Biography

Dr. Melaku Wale is an associate professor of pest management at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. He received his BSc degree from Alemaya University, his MSc from Addis Ababa University in Insect Science (biology), both in Ethiopia and PhD from Kenyatta University in Biological Pest Management (biology), Nairobi, Kenya. He has also taken courses in biological data analysis systems using different statistical models and software. He has published in about 40 peer-reviewed journals in the areas of pest management and ecology. Over the years, he has presented dozens of papers at scientific conferences, some of which are published in proceedings. Dr. Melaku is an active member of the Biological Society of Ethiopia, a member of the African Association of Insect Scientists, and a member of the Plant Protection Society of Ethiopia. He has been teaching postgraduate students since 2008 at Bahir Dar University. He has taught various courses such as biological data analysis, insect science, pest management, evolution, taxonomy and systematics, and medical entomology. He has offered and continues to offer various courses at other universities in Ethiopia as a guest lecturer. He has also been the director of research at Bahir Dar University from 2011 to 2015.
