Biography

Dr. Legesse Garedew Kifelew completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and MSc in Medical Microbiology (Thesis: Characterisation of M. tuberculosis) degrees at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, in 2006 and 2011, respectively, and his Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology (Thesis: Bacteriophage Therapy) at the Flinders University of South Australia in 2020. Since 2006, Dr. Legesse has had extensive experience in research and teaching in the fields of microbiology infectious diseases, and innovative therapeutics development. He is passionate about playing a leading role in the One Health and Zoonotic Diseases disciplines. His current role largely investigates the efficacy and safety of bacteriophages and other novel therapeutics in treating antibiotic-resistant infectious diseases in in-vitro, preclinical, and clinical settings.
